On the third day of the Cebu City Inter-Collegiate Invitational basketball tournament held at the Cebu City Sports Institute gym in Brgy. Sawang Calero, Manila-based schools showcased their supremacy against local Cebu teams.

The University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Altas, under the guidance of coach Olsen Racela, executed a dominant fourth-quarter surge to overcome the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars with a final score of 78-62. This victory kept the Altas undefeated with a 2-0 record. Key contributors included John Abis and Mark Cruz, who each tallied 13 points. Despite a valiant effort by Fritz John Gonzales, who scored 18 points, the Jaguars remained winless after two games.

Meanwhile, the Adamson University Falcons, led by coach Nash Racela, rebounded from an opening loss to the St. Benilde Blazers by decisively defeating the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 86-52. Cedrick Manzano spearheaded the Falcons’ offense, scoring 17 points and securing three rebounds and one block. Aj Fransman also made a significant impact with 13 points, eight boards, and an assist, while Matthew Montebon contributed 12 points. The Warriors were paced by James Enriquez’s 18 points and five rebounds, with Kyle Maglinte adding 13 points, six rebounds, two assists, and a steal.

These results reaffirm the strength of Manila-based teams in the tournament and set the stage for more competitive encounters in the days ahead.
