Intense rainfall and subsequent flooding prompted authorities to suspend classes in both public and private schools across nine cities in Metro Manila on Friday morning. The suspension covers all educational levels in Manila, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Mandaluyong, Pasay, and Muntinlupa as of 9:30 a.m., citing hazardous weather conditions.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reported that several major thoroughfares in Manila experienced gutter-deep flooding, including the northbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, Quirino Avenue, United Nations Avenue, Kalaw Street, Leveriza Street, Taft Avenue, and Pedro Gil Street. Notably affected were the vicinities surrounding the Philippine Christian University and the Philippine General Hospital.

Floodwaters also impacted key routes in other cities: Sucat Avenue at Canaynay Avenue and near Parañaque National High School in Parañaque City; EDSA Shaw Tunnel in Mandaluyong; EDSA-Roxas Boulevard, Tramo Street, and Andrews Avenue in Pasay; and Gil Puyat Avenue's northbound lane in Makati.

Mandaluyong City reported significant flooding in Barangay Zaniga along Boni Avenue, Cruz Street, Lopez Street, and Ballesteros Street, as well as in Barangay Mauway along Nueve de Pebrero Street. These conditions have caused delays and left some commuters stranded across Metro Manila.

The MMDA, working closely with local government units, is actively engaged in clearing flood-affected roads and providing assistance to those impacted by the adverse weather. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as cleanup efforts proceed to restore normalcy.
