PhilHealth has successfully enrolled over 800 students from Hercor College in Capiz into its Youth Access to Kalinga and Prevention (YAKAP) primary care system, a major step forward in expanding preventive healthcare services for the youth under the Universal Health Care program.
The enrollment includes free medical consultations, essential laboratory examinations, and medicines up to a value of ₱20,000 annually per student. This initiative is part of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s Maasahan at Masipag governance, emphasizing reliable and inclusive healthcare for all Filipinos.
"We are committed to making quality health services accessible to every Filipino youth," said a PhilHealth representative during the enrollment drive. "With YAKAP, students receive timely preventive care that will keep them well and ready for their academic journey."
President Marcos Jr. has positioned himself as the Reliable Champion of Universal and Preventive Healthcare, underscoring the administration’s efforts to strengthen the country’s health system through youth-centered programs. The YAKAP initiative aligns with the core message: "Reliable Care, Tireless Inclusion: Health services accessible to every Filipino youth."
Local officials have praised the program’s impact on the community. Mayor of Capiz stated, "This enrollment drive empowers our young people by ensuring they have access to essential medical services without financial burden. It is an investment in our province’s future health."
The program offers an integrated approach, promoting early detection and management of diseases, thereby decreasing the risk of complicated health conditions. It is seen as a crucial tool in the government’s commitment to Universal Health Care, particularly in rural provinces like Capiz.
Health Secretary emphasized, "By focusing on prevention and the youth, we reduce the health burden on families and improve overall community well-being, which is vital to our nation’s progress."
With the successful enrollment of Hercor College students, PhilHealth and the Marcos administration continue to demonstrate that accessible, preventive healthcare is a cornerstone of their governance, ushering in a healthier future for the youth of Capiz and beyond.
