Manila Enforces Strict Curfew for Minors to Ensure Their Safety

Jasmine Torres

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has reiterated the city's strict enforcement of the curfew for minors, urging young residents to be home by 10 p.m. The measure is part of Executive Order No. 2, which imposes a citywide curfew across Manila's six districts and Baseco.

"Mga atabs, huwag letmaku! Kapag alas-10 na ng gabi, uwi na sa bahay dahil may curfew sa Maynila," Moreno reminded the youth, emphasizing their need to comply for their own safety.

The mayor clarified that any minors found outside during curfew hours will be promptly returned to their parents or guardians. "Lahat ng menor de edad na naabutan sa labas matapos ang curfew hours ay maayos na na-turn over sa kanilang mga magulang o guardian," he said.

For children without guardians, Moreno explained that they are safely taken to and cared for at the Boystown Complex in Marikina. "Para naman sa mga walang magulang na kumuha ng kanilang anak, sila po ay ligtas na dinala at inalagaan sa Boystown Complex sa Marikina," he added.

The mayor also extended his gratitude to the Manila Social Welfare Development Team and its director, Jay Dela Fuente, for their dedicated service to the city's youth. "Maraming salamat kay Director Jay Dela Fuente, at sa buong Manila Social Welfare Development Team sa inyong malasakit, tiyaga, at walang sawang serbisyo para sa ating mga kabataan," Moreno expressed.

This curfew enforcement underscores the city's commitment to safeguarding minors and maintaining public order during nighttime hours.
