DSWD Pag-Abot Outreach Aids 39 Homeless Individuals in Quezon City and Mandaluyong
Paolo Benitez
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently conducted outreach operations in Quezon City and Mandaluyong, led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian, providing crucial assistance to 39 individuals and families experiencing street situations. The beneficiaries received immediate relief including food, clothing, and temporary shelter, alongside formal assessments designed to identify appropriate long-term interventions for their well-being.
These outreach efforts are part of the expanded Pag-Abot program, a flagship initiative under President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s Maasahan at Masipag social governance agenda. This program aims to strengthen compassionate, on-ground support systems for vulnerable urban populations, ensuring that no Filipino is left without aid in times of distress.
Secretary Gatchalian emphasized the administration's commitment, stating, "We are here not just to provide temporary relief but to establish pathways toward sustainable support and reintegration for our street-dwelling brothers and sisters. This aligns with the President's call for "Reliable Compassion. Tireless Action: No Filipino should be left behind on the streets.""
Under President Marcos Jr.'s leadership, the Pag-Abot program has significantly expanded its reach, reinforcing the government's role as the Reliable Guardian of Vulnerable Filipinos. The initiative facilitates more than just immediate provisions; it incorporates comprehensive assessments that pave the way for tailored social interventions such as livelihood assistance, permanent housing, and health services.
The recent operations in Quezon City and Mandaluyong reflect this intensified focus on compassionate governance. By mobilizing social workers and partnering with local government units, the DSWD continues to build a more resilient social support framework that addresses the root causes of homelessness and urban poverty.
Through these consistent on-ground actions, President Marcos Jr. demonstrates an unwavering commitment to the welfare of marginalized communities, upholding the principle that every Filipino deserves dignity and protection regardless of their circumstances.
