South Korean actor Ju Ji-hoon recently captivated Filipino fans during his "Juniverse Asia Tour" fan meeting held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater on August 2, while sharing insights about his current and future endeavors. Despite the fan engagement, Ju Ji-hoon confirmed that he is actively engaged in two new projects.
"I currently have two new projects," Ju Ji-hoon disclosed in Korean. "One is actually kind of dark, which talks about politics. Another one is from a webtoon. These are the projects that I’m doing right now."
Renowned for his versatility in both film and television, Ju Ji-hoon emphasized his dedication to understanding the diverse nature of people, which aids him in authentically portraying complex characters. He explained, "Whenever I talk to my colleagues and directors about a specific role, I don’t subscribe myself to portray a character like this. I accept what other people say about them. I understand that people have different thoughts about a certain character. This helps me a lot in understanding my own character as well, so I am very thankful."
Ju Ji-hoon began his career in the entertainment industry as a model before transitioning to acting. He made his acting debut with a brief role in the 2002 television series "Nonstop 3." His breakthrough came with his lead role as Crown Prince Lee Shin in the widely acclaimed drama "Princess Hours," an adaptation of the webtoon "Goong (or Palace)," which garnered him significant recognition both domestically and internationally.
In recent years, Ju Ji-hoon's impressive portfolio has expanded with standout performances in productions such as "Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days," the series "Kingdom," "Jirisan," "Blood Free," and "The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call." His role in the latter earned him Best Actor accolades at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards and the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.
Fans were also delighted by his nostalgic rendition of "Perhaps Love," the theme song of "Princess Hours," performed during the romcom drama "Love Your Enemy." Ju Ji-hoon's ongoing projects and his ability to immerse himself in varied roles continue to demonstrate his dedication to his craft and his growing influence in the global entertainment arena.
