The 40th Kadayawan Invitational basketball tournament commenced Thursday evening, August 21, 2025, at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City, with the NLEX Road Warriors and Blackwater Bossing both emerging victorious in their opening matches.
The Road Warriors claimed a 95-88 win over the Converge FiberXers, spearheaded by Robert Bolick, who contributed 22 points to the team's effort. Despite trailing by 19 points, 52-71, entering the third quarter, the FiberXers rallied to tie the game at 88-88 late in the contest. However, they failed to score thereafter, allowing NLEX to secure the victory.
Meanwhile, Blackwater Bossing defeated the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters with a final score of 94-81, asserting dominance throughout their game.
The tournament continues to showcase competitive matchups as teams vie for the championship title amidst a vibrant local basketball scene.
